2013! The Year to Honor Yourself

January 1, 2013

Many of us are good at helping and caring for others but what about yourself?  Sorry to say, but more than once Spirit has tried to teach me the lesson of the importance of self-care by knocking me down so that self-care was my only option.  It is not a pleasant situation to be in when normal functioning becomes a challenge, but it is a big awakening moment when you realize that you have not been honoring the needs of your body, mind, and spirit.  Lifestyle changes are needed to make sure that you are taking care of yourself.  I am making a resolution to do small things for myself each day.  I hope you will join me by taking care of yourself.

Hopefully, you don’t have to be knocked down with broken bones, viruses or disease before you begin to take care of yourself first.  This newsletter and my Facebook postings are designed to be a reminder of what you can do each day to honor your body, mind, and spirit.  Little changes in your daily routine can make for greater physical health, mental happiness and spiritual evolution.

Here are a few suggestions:

Take Time for Youself Set aside a minimum of 5 minutes each day for quiet reflection, meditation, or prayer in 2013.

Listen to Your Body and Follow Your Heart If your gut reaction is that something is not right, that is your intuition telling you to beware.  If you are trying to make a decision about which path to choose, follow your heart.

Create and Follow a Daily Practice I have created a morning prayer for myself that is followed by a Grounding and Brain Balancing Exercise.  This helps me to set the tone for my day, and to helps me look at things more objectively and less emotionally. Move More I won’t say exercise because it is often something we avoid, but you can find other ways to add more movement in your life:  dancing, taking the stairs more often, walking with the dog or children and parking farther away from your destination.  A more active lifestyle will serve you well now and help you to have greater movement ability in 2013 and the years beyond.

Get outside for 10-15 minutes of sunshine each day or take a Vitamin D supplement The importance of Vitamin D cannot be over-emphasized.  The most recent information I heard is that having enough Vitamin D in your system will prevent breast cancer.

Count Your Blessings An attitude of gratitude will go a long way towards greater manifesting of your desires and greater contentment with your life.

Let Go of the Past and What Doesn’t Serve You or Feel Good The past cannot be changed. Dwelling on it doesn’t serve you, and may ultimately make you ill.  Be in the present where there will be much to appreciate in 2013.

Grocery Shop in the Outer Aisles of the Supermarket Staying away from processed foods will keep a lot of toxins out of your body.

Keep Learning The planet is shifting. Learn as much as you can and nourish your body, mind and spirit. You will be able to handle changes and shifts in 2013 with greater ease.

Practice Kindness A small act of kindness really brightens your day,  so acts of kindness for others will make you happier, too.  Remember that kind words go a long way to show that you respect others so that they will respect you.

Face Your Issues or Problems Often so much energy is being used to avoid looking at a problem or issue that you don’t realize that what was bothering you was causing you undue stress and physical problems in the body.    A little time spent with a counselor or energy healer could help you resolve your issues once and for all.

Take Care of Your Health Without your health, you are not able to fully participate in life.  There is more to do besides the daily tooth brushing, frequent hand washing, bathing and getting 7 or more hours of sleep per night.  I provide many health tips and information on Facebook  (http://www.facebook.com/healinggateway ) I am also available for Intuitive Energy Healing Sessions or Tune Ups to help you  improve your health in body, mind, and spirit.

Remember to find an accountability buddy It is a great idea to have a friend who can help keep you on track with your commitment to self.  An accountability buddy can applaud your successes and spur you on to honor yourself in 2013.

Notice How You Spend Your Time Filling your day with “busyness” that allows no time to honor yourself ultimately doesn’t serve you or the planet.  2013 is a great year for you and I to nourish our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual beings.  We are worth the effort.
